Canebrake Connections, April 2009

THE 2009 CANEBRAKE CLUB EASTER EGG HUNT
A good time was had by all…

Easter 2009 is here, and Canebrake is alive and well. Many events are planned for this month for the entire membership.

Great Dining at Canebrake

Chef Ron Casey has several special dining opportunities lined up for you to enjoy. From his always popular Sunday lunch buffets to his Steak Night, he has a range of items sure to tickle your dining fancy. This month he has added an Italian Night on April 23rd. Speaking fine dining, Ron’s April Culinary Dinner was a huge hit, and he is planning to ensure that May 1st's event will be memorable as well.

Also, on April 17th, enjoy the sounds of Richie and Deemer. Chef Ron will be pleasing you with a special limited menu. Please remember, no beverages are to be brought on property and/or into the clubhouse. The aforementioned is a violation of state liquor laws and club rules.

Canebrake is Growing, and You Can Help

Alice Dunnavant is starting to signup new members again, now that she has returned from her recent cruise. Please call her at 232-2412, extension 5 to refer your friends and help the club continue to grow.

Events Planner, Anna Kennemer, has been booking your private parties and special gatherings. Call her at at 232-2412, extension 6 with any requests.

Tennis and The Pool Prepare for Spring Season

Coach Craig Shamwell has been working to get his tennis courts in top condition and is ready to help you realize your potential as a tennis player. Craig is planning some clinics and club competition to keep you sharp on the courts.

Again this year, Alice Dunnavant has agreed to head up the swimming pool operation. We are reevaluating the lifeguard situation and are planning to have lifeguards on a very limited basis. We are also revisiting our pool party rules and availability. If you have any thoughts or comments, please feel free to email them to me or Alice.

Canebrake Golf is Better Than Ever

Shawn Hollis has the golf course poised to be in great condition for the season. He plans to take full advantage of his equipment purchased by the Canebrake Partners in order to give you the best conditions yet at Canebrake. He continues to get the most out of his staff and keeps the golf course in very good condition, while making steady improvements to the layout.

Head Golf Professional, Josh Gardner, and his staff have spent the winter preparing to offer you many opportunities for instruction and competition. They have also selected an array of golf clothing featuring the latest styles and fabrics.

MGA News

This year, the Men’s Golf Association under President Ray Neese has opted to play a more active role in the execution and planning of our golf tournaments. If you have an interest in event details, be sure to share your thoughts with the tournament committee. At the request of the MGA, we have agreed to do a trial run on a 9am shotgun for their Saturday dogfight starting on April 11th. The goal of the MGA is to promote participation and camaraderie among their membership. After trying this for the month of April, we will reassess this based on the input of club members and the success of the program.

I'll See You 'Round the Club,
Jack Sauers
