The Annual Partner’s Party was a great success. The weather was perfect after the earlier clouds cleared and gave way to clear skies. The cool front brought very pleasant temperatures, just perfect for an evening under the tent.
Residents and members turned out and enjoyed a fine spread put out by Chef Ron and his capable staff. Anna had the F&B staff ready and able to provide ample drinks and service to all our honored guests.
Hosts Alston & Lisa Noah and Billy & Suzanne Christopher were all smiles as they greeted the attendees. Sadly, the Carl Hunt family was suffering from the flu and unable to participate in the festivities.
Alston Noah spoke to the assembly and updated them on the current state of the Club. He stressed the Partners’ commitment to a quality experience at Canebrake and asked all to help promote the club to their friends and associates. Alston noted that we are staying the course with the long range plans of building value and protecting the integrity of your investment in home sites and memberships. Canebrake is not buckling to the pressure of current economic conditions and slashing prices like some others in our business. This comes at a big price to the Partners as they continue to make up the shortfall until the time comes when Canebrake can stand on its own. He added that it would presently take about $70 per member per month to hit break-even.
Alston cited several areas of improvement within the club, opining that the facilities and services are the best they have ever been. He closed by saying Canebrake is a great place to Live, Play and Belong.
Richie and Deemer took over and entertained the crowd for a few more hours. Thanks to all of you that came and helped make the evening a big success.

It is my pleasure to introduce you to our new Tennis Professional, La-Ron Presnell. He is no stranger to Canebrake, having served in this capacity during the founding of Canebrake. I believe La-Ron will work hard and develop an active tennis program for you. La-Ron is very enthused about reuniting with Canebrake and having a second chance to be your professional.
Please plan to drop by the tennis shop this Thursday, August 6 at 6pm to meet LaRon and let him know your wishes for the future of our tennis program. If you can't make it Thursday, I hope you'll drop by at your earliest convenience to get to know La-Ron. I’m excited to be back at Canebrake and hope to help make the game of tennis popular and well-loved in Athens once again! I will run leagues and drills, teach lessons (private and group), set you up with opponents, find you a partner, string your racquet, and help you however I can to get you out to play! Whether you’re starting for the first time, or a well-accomplished player, I want to see you using the great facilities we have at Canebrake.
I’d love to meet you and discuss my plans for the tennis program here. I plan to offer something for everyone: beginners, intermediates and advanced players... children, teens, and adults. I want to be available to you almost any time; the programs and events are for you, the members, so please drop by the tennis shop and let me know how I can be of service. I hope to see you soon!
Sincerely,
La-Ron Pressnell
See you around the club,
Jack
